The mono print process is fun and easy.

  • Heat the griddle up to 150º Fahrenheit, just enough to melt crayons.
  • Draw a picture with the crayons on the griddle.
  • Place a piece of rice paper or heavier weight drawing paper on top of the picture.  Press down and burnish so that the wax is absorbed by the paper.  Rice paper does work the best for this.
  • Gently lift paper off from the drawing on the griddle.

I built the wooden barrier to keep from burning myself on the griddle.
